Networking
A representative from Stream Solutions will call to your premises and carry
out a site inspection. We can then advise whether a wired or wireless network or
combination of both would best suit your needs.
Wired Networks
A wired network is a network with physical cables connecting each system
together and consists of a cabling, a router, a hub and network cards. A wired
network offers 100Mb/s or 1000Mb/s connection speeds and is faster than a
wireless network.
Stream Solutions install networks to a very high standard and consists of a
cabinet (housing the hub, router, and patch panel) and wall mounted Ethernet
points. The cable runs are neatly encased in trucking.
Wireless Networks
The term 'wireless network' refers to two or more computers communicating
using standard network protocols, but without the use of cabling to connect the
computers together. Instead, the computers use wireless radio signals to send
information from one to the other. A wireless network uses a combination of
routers, access points, repeaters and wireless cards and offers 11Mb/s or 54Mb/s
connection speeds.
Virtual Private Networks
Stream Solutions can set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN), which allows two
or more private networks (or computers) to connect securely over the Internet.
One reason a company would install a VPN, is to allow managers and sales reps in
the field, to safely connect to the office network / server and transfer files,
send and receive their email and print. Two remote offices sharing a common
database of information can also be connected together in this manner.
Digital Telephone Systems
Digital telephone systems can use the same Ethernet network as computers.
Stream Solutions provide and install telephone systems when installing wired
networks for many clients.
